RECENT STATE PARTY RESOLUTIONS:
(Resolutions are non-binding but encouragements to the legislature to pass laws. )
RESOLUTION TO CREATE SINGLE-MEMBER STATE SENATE DISTRICTS
WHEREAS, the Republican Party has been able to eliminate all of the muti-member Delegate Districts in West Virginia thereby vastly improving the ability of West Virginia voters to select appropriate representation and to improve their ability to communicate with their Delegate since each Delegate now represents roughly the same number of constituents and not the previous four or five times that number; and
WHEREAS, the Republican Party believes that the same impact should occur in the State Senate Districts and for the same reasons; and
WHEREAS, the Senate currently has 17 Districts with approximately 106,000 residents, each with two Senators; and
WHEREAS, the 17 Senate Districts could each be divided into two separate Districts each with approximately 53,000 residents using either adjusted U.S. Census data for 2026 or actual U.S. Census data in 2031; and
WHEREAS, this would cut down on the cost of State Senate Races and allow for each senator to focus on a much smaller number of voters to represent, thereby increasing accountability; and
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the West Virginia Republican Party strongly encourages the Legislature to change the 17 Senate two-member Districts into 34 single member Districts.
SUPPORTING ISRAEL AND CONDEMNING HAMAS AND THEIR ENABLERS
WHEREAS, the WVGOP takes note of the recent terrorist attacks on Israel, and condemns them outright; and

WHEREAS, there can be no moral justification for these type of attacks on anyone; and

WHEREAS, multiple college professors have also voiced support of Hamas by offering extra credit for attending rallies to support these actions; and
WHEREAS, members of Congress have voiced equivocations and support for Hamas/Palestine; and
WHEREAS, calls for genocide and/or the eradication of Israel far exceed the proper boundaries of free speech and should be wholeheartedly condemned; and
WHEREAS, any and all decent human beings can in no way find justification for this type of barbarity in civilized society;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the WVGOP hereby encourages the legislature to withdraw all funding for any in state university or college that allows these student organizations to operate on their campus and hereby encourages the state legislature to immediately withdraw funding for any in state university or college that continues to provide tenure for any professor voicing support for Hamas/Palestine Moreover, the WVGOP hereby calls on Congress to do likewise with funding for universities across the nation and hereby calls for the immediate censure and/or expulsion of any member of Congress who publicly supports this butchery.
